Funded Grant Proposals

The Focus of Our Efforts

"In the new year, our library has received several books through the support of the Mountain Views Innovation Fund. Woodstock Elementary is located on the Abenaki land of N’Dakinna. Throughout North America, there are over 1,000 federally recognized tribes and First Nations. These are the people who were here first. The new books in our collection spotlight several different indigenous perspectives. In reading these books, we have been reminded of the power of storytelling. Storytelling roots us in connection. Through stories, knowledge can come to life and turn into action. We are also reminded that our greatest strength comes from love for our families, community, and the Earth.

We hope that our community will listen to the stories of indigenous authors that our world so desperately needs. Please note that we also heard the voices of our students and added more graphic novels through grant funding. Come to the library to read, learn, and share!

We are so thankful for the people who brought these books into existence as well as the support of the Innovation Fund."

"Thank you for the generous grant for 'SOUND PLAY: Soundscapes Made Visible'. We are so appreciative!

PreK through second-grade students and teachers “hit the ground running” as soon as the funds were available shortly after our award was given; we purchased the professional recording equipment, learned how to use it with care, and went into the field to record sounds in nature for our sound library.  The children and teachers had an extraordinary experience collaborating in teams to record sounds in the field as the first part of our sound inquiry research."

"After receiving a generous grant from the Mountain Views Innovation Fund, we were able to purchase several bilingual and Spanish language books to create a bilingual section of the WES library! This includes books that students can read during library hours, take home to read with families, and that can be utilized for Spanish class and beyond. We are so excited to expand our library collection at WES! This grant also will fund bilingual books for the libraries at each elementary school in the district.

A big "gracias" to the Mountain Views Innovation Fund for their generous support of The Bilingual Library Project!"
